Accessibility at Appalachian

Parking

The University Parking and Transportation Department is responsible for providing parking services and traffic control for all faculty, staff, students and visitors to the campus. All individuals with a DMV issued disability placard (temporary or permanent) must also obtain an applicable university permit.

Appalcart Public Transportation

The transportation authority serving Watauga County and Appalachian State University and includes accessibility features/services for individuals with disabilities. NOTE: Appalachian State University does not provide transportation services and there is no intercampus transportation.

Proactive Accessibility Efforts

Resources have been developed for creating and using accessibility for the campus community including information regarding creating and using accessible course materials, and regarding physical accessibility.

Navigating Campus

Due to the natural terrain and on-going enhancements to better campus, individuals are encouraged to preview Campus Maps  and current campus construction projects  through Planning, Design and Construction and the Physical Plant to assist in planning routes to allow sufficient time when navigating campus.

It is recommended that guests with limited mobility work with a medical supply store or pharmacy for short term wheelchair or mobility device options/rentals as wheelchairs or other personal mobility devices are not provided on campus.
