Students Requesting Accommodations

  1. Step 1: Submit Request for Access Planning or Accommodations:

  2.  Step 2: Either Submit Disability Documentation or Request a Connection Meeting:
    • Connection Meeting: Students may request a connection meeting to discuss their disability, history of accommodations, disability-related barriers and challenges experienced, ODR's request process, disability documentation, and resources and access at App State. Documentation may still be needed for approval of accommodations.

    • Disability Documentation: Students may submit readily available documentation meeting guidelines. For accommodations within University Housing (including service animals or emotional support animals, additional requirements are outlined at Assistance Animals within University Housing.

  3. Step 3: Access Planning: ODR staff will work with students on an individualized basis to determine appropriate resources and accommodations, if applicable. Students are responsible for regularly checking their App State email and completing applicable next steps.

Accommodation Requests Timing:  Students are encouraged to begin the request process as early as possible as approvals may take more time to navigate, depending upon their complexity. Generally, accommodations are not retroactive or applied to historical activities/tasks. Once the request for accommodations and appropriate documentation is received, every effort will be made to determine eligibility and provide related accommodations within 10 business days of submission.
